With these words, Alessandro D’Avenia opened the heart of the April 17th evening, the third appointment of the Adolescence cycle, Fondazione Oltre’s project dedicated to families with teenage children.
At the Auditorium della Conciliazione in Rome, D’Avenia — writer, teacher, and screenwriter — explored an urgent and timely question: how can we learn to see school once again as a place of educational alliance, and not merely of assessment? What is the power of stories, beauty, and the written word in shaping the conscience and hearts of young people?
In conversation with Gigi De Palo, General Director of Fondazione Oltre, D’Avenia showed how literature is not a cultural ornament but a living tool for growth: a space where adolescents can encounter themselves, their own questions, and their own fragility transformed into strength. The evening was introduced by Anna Chiara Gambini and closed with a reflection by don Fabio Rosini, who offered a spiritual yet grounded perspective on the themes of the night.
On April 17, 2026, Gigi De Palo, Director of Fondazione Oltre, and Professor Alessandro D'Avenia were guests on Rai News 24 to discuss the educational challenges of the adolescent world
